Check out Dr. Cavanagh's new article, How Does Juvenile Offending Relate to Mothers' Aspirations and Expectations for Their Sons?, in the Journal of Research on Adolescence. This study suggests that, as boys continued to engage in delinquency after their first arrest, their mothers' expectations for their future success diminished-- especially when their sons were younger.
